The other night Matthew had an interesting dream just in time for Halloween. In his dream he asked me what was for dinner and I replied, "the cat." Apparently I was going to "file off his hair and cook him on the pancake cooker." The boy has a lot of faith in me, doesn't he!

Don't Listen to Your Mother!
So we still tease Camille from time to time about her goalkeeper skills back on one of her very first soccer teams. During one game she let a ball roll right by her while she stood perfectly still. When we asked her about it she said she couldn't move because there was a bee on her shirt. Logical, right? Well, of course I reassured her that if a bee was ever on her again she could just wave the bee away and that it wouldn't hurt her. Well, can you see where this is going? Fast forward to yesterday's soccer game, seconds before the referee blows the whistle to start the second half. Camille is in position, concentrating hard, when she feels something on her arm. Of course, she tries to wave it away, and, you guessed it, gets stung, hard, right on the upper arm. Good thing you don't use your arms (officially) in soccer because she had to play the second half with a very sore bicep!
Oh, by the way, the game ended in a tie, 1-1, after a double overtime. They don't have a shoot out unless it's a play-off game.

Fun with Spunky
Take a look at this picture then see if you can answer the following question:
Why has Spunky been shaved?a. We're trying to hide his bald spot.
b. All the cool dogs are doing it.
c. We're trying to pass him off as a Chihuahua.
d. He got too close to a skunk with unfortunate results.
Anyone who has met Spunky will have no trouble believing that the answer is d. He's not the smartest tool in the shed. The really sad part is that we let him in the house before we realized what had happened. That was a mistake! Finally, a couple of shampoos and a trip to the groomer and a day and a night with open windows later we're all fresh smelling again -at least as much as we ever were!

Is There a Problem, Officer?
I have to tell the story of our brush with the law the other morning. It was early in the morning and I was lying on the couch in the family room because I was having trouble sleeping. That wasn't working much better because our hyper cat kept jumping on me. Just as I was drifting off to sleep at about 5:00 am I heard someone banging on our front door. I couldn't imagine who it was -all our kids were home when we went to bed, and Spunky was snoring in his kennel. I had heard about burglers who knock first to see if you are home, then break in if you don't answer, so I thought I'd better see who it was. As I looked out the glass by the door the men outside said "Police" and flashed a badge in front of their flashlight. Now I was really freaked out. I mean, I trust my kids, but all kinds of scenarios went through my mind. I opened the door and they said that they had recieved a 911 call from our home. Well, that was weird, because our phone line had been dead all day since our neighbor's landscapers had damaged it. When I told them this, they didn't even seem surprised, so I guess it has happened before. How a dead phone line calls 911, I don't understand, but they didn't seem to have a problem with it, they just apologized and said good bye. I didn't realize how fast my heart was beating and how much I was shaking until I closed the door. That was it for sleep for me!
