Flashback Friday

No particular reason for this picture this week except it makes me laugh. Ahh, Scott. Never a dull moment with him.

Today's the Day!

I missed this and had to dig it out of the garbage after people telling me they saw Camille in the paper. This has happened more than once. I guess I need to read more thoroughly. :)

Seminary Graduation

Sunday was Seminary Graduation for Camille. Another milestone! It was a short and sweet event since it's done on a stake level now, and there were only 16 graduates from our stake. 6 of them were from our ward. Camille did a great job on her piano/violin duet, so that's one more thing she can cross off her list!
Thanks for coming, Mommer and Grandpa!

Camille and Lauren

A Spring Day in Utah (Friday)

My dad had informed me that this is a Great Blue Heron. It has been too long since our canoeing/birdwatching days for me to identify it for sure. Too bad I didn't have my telephoto lens with me.

Half Marathon

Yesterday was the Ogden Marathon. Camille ran the half-marathon for the third time in a row and she did awesome. She finished in just under 2 hours. It was a gorgeous day for a race -not too hot and not too cold. She said it was a beautiful run. Pineview was glass and the sky was a brilliant blue. I guess the Ogden Marathon made Runners World magazine's list of top 10 marathons last year and so it filled up really early this year. (So did the half) I'm sure it won't get any better with all those out-of-towners seeing Ogden and the canyon at their best yesterday. It really was a spectacular day.

This is the best shot I could get of Camille nearing the finish line. The lady in front of her just wouldn't get out of the way!

Camille and her friend Tyson with their medals and sore muscles. He never trains even a fraction as much as her but always seems to find a way to beat her. This year he turned it on in the last block and beat her by about 20 seconds. How rude! (In case you're wondering, that big black thing in the background is a climbing wall brought in for the festivities at the finish line. For some reason neither of these two were interested in climbing it.)

Belated Birthday Pictures

I wished Kevin a happy birthday on this blog a couple of weeks ago, but I never got around to posting pictures, so here they are. As you can see, he likes chocolate cake. I also learned that camera flashes don't work well when I'm wearing a baseball cap, as you can see in the second picture.

8 crazy 13 year olds. What a fun age. They were perfectly happy playing basketball, capture the flag, and kick the can all night. And eating LOTS of cake, ice cream, and pizza.

Kevin couldn't think of anything to ask for for his birthday. Seriously, we kept trying to figure out what he wanted, but I guess he has everything he wants, because he kept saying "I don't know." Talk about maddening. He wasn't thrilled about anything we suggested, so we just gave him a couple of small things, and got something for the whole family. This trampoline seems to be a hit. How long until we're in the ER?

Flashback Friday

Every year we take pictures before leaving for school on the first day of school. This blurry picture is the very first one ever, taken on Camille's first day of kindergarten. She was so excited and soooo big, I thought. It seems like just a minute ago now, but it really has been quite an adventure through 5 different schools lots of different friends and ups and downs. Camille has handled herself with grace through all of it. At one point she went to 4 schools in 4 years! Quite an accomplishment considering we moved only once in that time. It's just the way it worked out with moving from elementary to Jr. High in Centerville, then moving to Ogden where she went to middle school for one year then was on to high school for 9th grade. Through everything she has always done her very best and never settled for anything less. She is breathing much easier these days with her AP tests behind her. The verdict: Calculus -UGH! Literature -hard, but okay, Biology -Better than expected, but still hard, English Language -Last the best of all the game. Now she just has to finish the half-marathon tomorrow, play in a piano/violin duet in Seminary Graduation next Sunday, speak in church next Sunday, and remember not to trip in graduation on the 26th and she can truly relax.

This is the most recent first day of school picture. (Matt left an hour later so he was in a different picture) Camille would have a hard time holding Kevin in her arms now!

One More Last Time

Last night was Camille's very last high school dance. It was the senior prom or "Accolade." Apparently a good time was had by all -it was held at Ogden's Union Station. Her high school days are truly winding down.

Flashback Friday

Just yesterday -kindergarten; this month -graduating. Kind of unbelievable to me but I guess it's really going to happen. I remember years ago when Camille figured out the years that all the kids would graduate, she thought that her graduation year, 2010, and Matt's, 2020, were the coolest. I was comforted, because that sounded so far away. Well, what happened?
When I graduated I remember wondering what all the fuss was about. I mean everyone except the true slackers graduates, right? It's not like we were graduating from medical school or something. Camille said something similar to me the other day, and I told her that from a parent's perspective, we're not just celebrating the fact that our children have completed enough credits to fulfill the requirements to graduate. High school graduation is a real milestone in a child's life. Camille has been 18 for a while, but it seems like leaving high school is the real transition from childhood to adulthood. It's bittersweet, but the way Camille has lived her life so far, it is really something to celebrate.

Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself!

Camille is taking her first of 4 AP tests today. Grandma and Grandma have been thinking of her, and many of the missionaries serving with them can sympathize since they've been through it, too, so they sent their good wishes to her via email.

Thanks, everyone!
GOOD LUCK, CAMILLE!

Growing?

So look at the bottom picture which was taken a year ago and you decide -are the boys growing or is Camille shrinking?

I had to throw the middle picture in because Spunky was so funny. The kids were all lined up and he just trotted over and sat at their feet and posed. He really wasn't supposed to be in the picture.

Matt's First 5k

Today was the 2nd annual 5k/1 mile fundraiser for our elementary school. Last year Matt ran the 1 miler, but he was determined to run in the 5k this year and he did! Good job, Matt!
