Soccer in the Snow?

So, what does the High School soccer team do if their season starts next week and the field is still under a foot of snow? Well, Kevin's team got out the snow shovels and tried to haul away as much snow as they could on tarps. The result? A good workout, but only marginal success at clearing the field. It looks like they'll be practicing in the gym for the foreseeable future.

Scott's Big Day

Scott's time has finally come...

2 years in 3 suitcases

Our missionary -doesn't he look happy?

I wonder how much these heights will change in 2 years

Kevin has a whole new wardrobe now

 So proud

Found this on my camera and had to post it -so Scott

 Someone's missing...
but I think she's thinking of us.

The boys...Scott's friend Pablo might possibly miss him the most

We ran into Scott's friend who entered the MTC last week at the temple. He's had a stressful first week learning Russian.

 Goodbye...and still smiling

See you in two years! Such a proud, sad, sweet moment, made so much easier by Scott's excitement and cheerfulness.

We drove around the back on our way our hoping for a glimpse of anyone who looked like Camille, but we had to just send her our happy thoughts.  Tomorrow is her P-day, so we will be looking forward to hearing whether or not she has seen Scott and if so, how shell-shocked he is looking.

Ready to Go!

Scott is ready and raring to go to the MTC. His bags are packed, his hair has been re-cut, he was set apart a couple of hours ago, his phone is history, his suit is laid out, and he doesn't even seem to be nervous. He's so excited he's making it hard for me to be sad.

This is how he spent last Friday night. Washing his white shirts and practicing simplified hymns. He hasn't touched the piano in probably six years, but he wants to be ready, just in case. Who are you and what have you done with Scott?

Monday night dinner with Mommer and Grandpa to say goodbye.

Scott's choice for his last dinner at home tonight -Swedish Pancakes!

Valentine's Day

 Matt's class valentines -You Rock!
(only one more year to make class valentines -sniff!)

Valentine cookies for the boys in my life -and some to send to the MTC.  I decided rather than "Kiss Me" I'd write "love" scriptures on the cookies for Camille's district.

 Beautiful flowers

The first to take a bite!

Basketball Comes to an End

We had a sophomore team dinner before the last game at our house (leftovers from Camille and Scott's farewell -but don't tell). The fun thing about this team is that most of the players are Kevin's close friends, so they've had a lot of fun together. These are really great boys. They will miss competing together during the off-season (but not the 5:45am practices)

Goodbye, Camille!

Wednesday, February 6 was the day Camille thought would never come.  After her MTC entry date was moved back 2 weeks she ended up waiting 5 months from the time she received her mission call. She was excited and nervous and very ready. After packing and repacking, she fit everything into her suitcases and was all ready to go.

It was a sunny, but foggy day, and after lunch at Mimi's Cafe we stopped for photos at the Provo Temple (along with about a thousand other missionaries)

Our last family photo for two years

How much taller will Matt be in eighteen months?

It was hard to say good-bye

Scott will see Camille in a couple of weeks

Off she goes!

January Freeze

We had some crazy weather this January.  We had lots of snow storms (24 inches in one 36 hour period), single-digit temperatures for a couple of weeks, and even a day of freezing rain.  The good news... the groundhog didn't see his shadow, so spring is near, right?

The sun breaking through after a storm temporarily cleaned out the inversion. And a deer trail trough the new snow in our back yard.

The cold air produced massive ice sickles from our roof.

The city is good to keep our steep road plowed, but several times during the storms this is what it has looked like.  Thank goodness for four wheel drive.

The sun is back!
