Camille was at a life-guarding class all day, but for once she was ready and waiting when her date arrived! No last minute hair disasters or broken zippers or stressing over this or that. She didn't seem to worry so much about everything being perfect this time, which was nice, even though I thought she ended up looking beautiful. Maybe that will carry over into the rest of her life a little. :) I mean it's good to do things well, but we need to keep the stress to a manageable level, right?Saturday, March 27, 2010

Prom Invite
So last Sunday Camille's friend, Natalie, called her and asked her if she had been asked to the prom the night before. She hadn't. Natalie said she had given her friend Robert very specific directions to our house. Well it turns out she had given him very specific directions to our neighbor's house. While my 45 year old friend two houses down was flattered to be invited to the prom she kind of figured it wasn't for her, but since Camille's name wasn't on it she thought it was for her next door neighbor on the other side who goes to a private school and doesn't know Robert at all. I can only imagine that girl's confusion. Robert tried to track it down by knocking on doors, but in the end he had to redo the whole thing. Camille finally got her official invitation on Monday night.
There were questions inside each balloon. Since they have all their AP classes together she had to look up clues in her AP textbooks (yes, they are both geeks) and solve a puzzle to find out who was asking her to the dance. It was actually quite clever, and it was funny to imagine our neighbor reading those same clues in confusion.

Soccer Starts
This week was the beginning of the high school boys soccer season, and even though the weather felt more like winter and Scott's arm is still in a cast, he was excited to get started. We had to buy a bunch of foam weather stripping for him to have his cast wrapped in and then it was taped up, but he was cleared by the refs in both games this week. His cast comes off tomorrow, so that will be a relief. It didn't seem to slow him down, but the funniest thing I saw was after half-time right before the game started when he had to have a teammate tie his shoe. He can't get his fingers around a shoelace because of his cast. This week the JV team lost one game and won one game.
